For CES 2016 in Las Vegas, Panasonic introduced a new high-speed projection mapping system with a sensing-to-projection latency of nearly 1ms, far beyond what conventional systems could achieve at the time. My main role was more about acting as the link between Panasonic's technical team and the creative direction. I also made some development regarding the interactive ball content.


Two pieces were created. The first was an interesting exploration: a physical ball placed on a projection surface triggered particle effects and generative sound, the visuals and audio shaped in real time by its speed and direction.


The second and most ambitious piece was a body projection mapping performance on professional dancers. As they moved, content was projected onto and around their bodies in real time. The precision was such that many in the audience suspected post-production. Even break dance improvisation was possible without losing the tracking, something unthinkable with conventional systems. Graphic content was directed by Hayato Ando, with whom I had previously collaborated on the Seikei University projection mapping.
