The music video "The Come Down" was a collaboration between Empara Mi, Hiroto Kuwahara, and Paul Lacroix, shot in Camden, London. Director Chris Turner opted for anamorphic lenses, resulting in a visually striking aesthetic.
Compared to previous projects, I was involved much more deeply on the creative side. In particular, I designed new shaders to bring the fire and water themes to life on the performer's face. An ambitious water shader painted moving waves across the skin, while a golden shader caught and reflected the fire itself. All parameters could be adjusted in real time through a multi-knob interface. Alongside the face projection mapping software, this was also the first time I used my home-made motion capture system in a production.
True to the technology's core principle, every shot was rendered and filmed live, with no VFX added in post-production.
